Whether interested in teaching or perhaps looking to deepen one's yoga practice, this self-paced journey (no "due by" dates!) empowers the yogi with an experience that is physical, mental/cognitive, and spiritual/emotional/healing with equal focus on asana (posture), pranayama (breath), and dhyana (meditation). The balanced, deliberate, and mindful coupling of the three is so powerful that they enable us to glide directly into a calm state of being, provide an increased opportunity for healing, and set the stage for self improvement body, mind, and spirit. Program includes in-person (for those local or able to travel) and Zoom live group and private learning sessions. Each module provides opportunities to "deep dive" one's focus into directions that best serve learner needs and interests. Though self-paced, Foundation's online experience is dynamic and interactive with Motif review and input of one's submissions within a 24/hr period. You will learn about the history of yoga in America and how it has shaped our practice today.
You will practice and learn about a variety of the most practiced Hatha and Raja yoga styles.
Know the basics of anatomy and kinesiology as it pertains to fundamental movements and yoga. Assess your biomechanics and create a course of action for improved posture and position/alignment, with the goal of improved symmetry.
You will learn the core principles, and do/don'ts, of each fundamental yoga posture (asana). Leverage modifications, corrections, and prop use.
